File a Report with the Office of Equity and Access
Title VI complaints can be filed here through the OEA ReportIt form. Hillel staff is here to assist in the filing process if you have questions or would like support.
The University will investigate any alleged acts of discrimination of which it becomes aware. Depending on the circumstances, OEA may refer to other departments to assist in the investigation or adjudication process.
Absent extenuating circumstances the investigation process, from receipt of a complaint through determination is expected to take place within ninety (90) calendar days from the University’s receipt of the complaint. For more information about the process, visit the OEA site here.
File a Report with the ADL/SCN/Hillel International
Complaints can be filed here through ReportCampusHate, a collaborative effort between the Anti-Defamation League, the Secure Community Network, and Hillel International. Through this website, the three organizations will ensure that Jewish students are supported and empowered to appropriately address the growing antisemitism on college campuses. The portal will also ensure proper tracking and reporting of antisemitic trends.
File a police report with the University Police Department
If you are a victim or a witness to a hate/bias crime on campus, report it to the University Police by 333 from any campus phone or by calling 911 on your cell phone. University Police will follow up and ensure appropriate notifications are made.
What is Title VI?
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in public and federally funded schools at all educational levels. Title VI protects all students, including Jewish students, from discrimination based on race, color, and national origin (including language and actual or perceived shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics).

Download SB Guardian to your phone. This app acts as a "personal blue light phone" in your pocket. The system can provide a one-touch call to notify University Police. It also offers a precautionary timer that alerts police if a traveling user does not reach a campus destination by a given time.
If you feel unsafe walking across campus by yourself, please reach out to the Residential Safety Program (RSP). Students can call 631-632-WALK (9255) to arrange a walk between the hours of 12pm and 3am.
There may be students and members of the community exercising their rights to freedom of speech on campus. While you may disagree with the nature or content of the speech, it is under the advisement of law enforcement professionals and Hillel that you do not confront protestors. If you feel the content is in violation of the code of conduct or is a direct threat to student safety, please see the above procedures and mechanisms for reporting these incidents.
